Welcome to Kentucky!

Well, I made it down to Kentucky Monday night and some how managed to only hit about ten minutes worth of rain.  Kentucky decided to really roll out the red carpet for me.  We had the moving truck parked kind of in front and to the side of the apartments.  During his lunch break Tuesday, Don thought it would be easier to unload everything into the house through the back door, so he moved the truck to the backyard.  Turned out to be a great idea.  Just as he went to walk back out the door he got a phone call saying that because of weather he didn't have to go back to work, so he helped me get a few boxes into the house.  About seven Tuesday night the power went out, luckily I had a box full of candles, so it wasn't too bad.  We woke up to a slightly chilly house, but we bundled up and it wasn't so bad.  Outside was a different story.  It had been raining all night, then freezing when it hit whatever was in it's way, so pretty much our part of Kentucky was a sheet of ice.  The ice made the branches so heavy that all night it sounded like shotguns going off as they broke.  One huge branch (almost a tree in it's own right) landed in the spot where the truck had been.  Really made walking around interesting for me, considering how graceless I am.  We were suppose to turn in the truck by noon on Wednesday, but everything was shut down, so that wasn't going to happen.  Besides, it was still stuck in the back yard.  As we tried to get it unstuck one of the neighbors popped his head out and asked if we needed help, which we did.  He tried a few things then suggested that it would be easier if we got everything out of the back of the truck.  Twenty minutes later the three of us plus his two kids had unloaded everything except the couches.  I think it was the fastest I had ever seen a truck get unloaded.  Of course, the truck still didn't move.  Well, four guys pushing, a yoga mat, a bunch of branches and two knocked over trashcans later, we finally got it out.  Meanwhile, the temperature in our apartment dropped to somewhere around 50, so it was getting pretty damn cold.  One of our friends had a camp heater and invited us over so we could be a little warmer.  We decided to head out for dinner at Applebee's (since Wal-Mart and the businesses around it still had power) and when we got home there were lights on at our friends place.  That was the best shower I think I have ever had!  We were eventually able to get the truck turned back in and got the late charges reversed because of the weather.  We also got all of the paperwork straightened out to get our money from the navy for the move down here.  We also got my car registered for base and a ton of our favors for the wedding done.  Last night we finally got power back on at our place, but it was still freezing cold (about 34 degrees), so we spent one last night at our friends place.  We are now back in our place and trying to wade through the boxes to get it looking like a home.  It was one hell of a welcome down here....

THE PATRIOT GIRLS
SPRING BREAK MODEL CONTEST
VOTE FOR ME!

Tue, Nov. 18th, 2008, 02:53 pm
Since I've posted it everywhere else

I figured I might as well let you guys in on my Christmas list...

1.  I guess the first thing would be that I really want to win this contest.  Little back story, I'm a member of the Patriot Girls, a swimsuit modeling team that does fundraising to support the troops.  As a former Air Force brat, active duty Sailor and a new Army wife, how could I not join.  The Patriot Girls are going to have a week long photo shoot in the Bahamas, and I really want to go.  In order to be able to, I need to win this contest.  All you'd need to do is click the picture below, which will take you to my site.  Once there just rate me using the numbers below my picture.  They allow one vote a day per IP address, so if you are bored and feel like voting for me more than once I would really appreciate it

2. Gift cards would be wonderful.  My husband is stationed in Kentucky and I'm stationed (for now) in Maryland, which makes for a lot of driving.  Granted the cost of gas has come down a lot and it helps, but it still gets to be expensive to be able to see him.  Honestly, I'd take any type of gift card.

3. Cute shoes.  I have fairly big feet and I seem to have the worst time trying to find cute shoes.  I'm a size ten, I don't care if they are used as long as they aren't too terribly abused (hehe, I made a funny).  I love peep toe heels and boots with no real preferences for color.

4. Make up stuff.  I do some modeling for fun and usually do my own make up and am constantly trying to find new colors and ways to wear it.

5. Some new (to me) books.  I read a lot and seem to go through books quicker than I can buy them.  I'm open to try anything a least once and will typically read a book about a million times.  Again, used is fine by me.

6. Cookbooks.  I love cooking but hate cooking for just me, so I'm going to start having dinner parties for my friends (especially the ones that don't like to cook).  Besides, I need to brush up on this whole cooking thing so my new husband doesn't starve!

7.  Wedding stuff would also be nice.  My husband and I got married at the courthouse a couple of months ago so that the Army would recognize me as a spouse and write orders for both of us to go to Germany, but we are still going to have the wedding that we were planning from the beginning.  Anything would be helpful, magazines, attire, favors, decorations, really anything.

8. Ideas of things to do in Europe.  We are going to be transferring to Germany in July and while he's been there before, it'll be a first for me.  I'm not sure how long it's going to take for me to get a job after we get there, so I'm trying to find things that I can do inexpensively to entertain myself or places I could go visit while he is away.

9. Snail mail!!!  There is nothing better than going to check mail and finding something other than bills in the box.

10.  Go ahead and surprise me!

Ya'll know you love me...

Honestly, a huge thank you to those who have voted for me and those who have supported me with this whole modeling thing.
